The first Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup races for the 2015 season kicked off at the fantastic Jerez Circuit in the Andalucian region of Spain.

With temperatures soaring to 34 degrees over the weekend and track temperature into the 50’s, it was slightly hotter than ever experienced by Rory in a race weekend.

Practice and qualifying was completed on Friday with Rory starting both the races from 21st position due to difficulties in finding a setup that worked for him.

Race 1

Rory made up several places on the run up to turn one and had some great battles over the 16 lap race finishing in 17th position.

Race 2

Once again Rory managed a fantastic sprint off the line to turn one gaining several places only to be pushed out wide undoing all the hard work in the opening lap, he settled down into a good rhythm and ended his race again in 17th position.

Rory said: I have really enjoyed my first weekend racing on the Rookies Cup KTM Moto3, it was an incredible experience and I am happy to be part of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup, I had hoped that in my first round I could have fought for a points position but am happy with my two 17th position finishes as I moved forward from my qualifying position, the level of competition is the hardest I have raced in ever and I am enjoying the the challenge. I am now looking forward to my next Rookies Cup round at Assen.

Big thanks to all my sponsors and followers on Facebook and Twitter.
