Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup Pre Season Test – Jerez
Straight after the first RFME Spanish Championship round at Albacete, Rory headed overnight to the Jerez circuit for the first test on his Rookies Cup KTM RC250R Moto3 machine.
“On the Monday we all met for the first time, all the riders, our mechanic helpers (my Dad being mine) and all the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup team. We were all given our new kit and then went to see our bikes and the garage set-up” said Rory.
After the first day’s schedule a track walk was completed.
Day 2 and the first ride on the KTM around the amazing Jerez circuit. A few minor changes to the bike were made during the day and all went well.
Day 3 was another full day of track action with Rory finding a better rhythm and getting better feel for the track and bike.
Day 4 comprised of photo shoots and info on a race weekend schedule.
Day 5 – the final day started with two practise sessions then an 18 lap race simulation. All went well with Rory managing his best time of the week, gaining a better understanding of the bike, track and the other riders. Rory said “I have learned a lot this week – another track, different riders and another Moto3 bike. I feel happy in the way things have progressed for me, all the Rookies Cup team have been really helpful and I’m really looking forward to my first Rookies Cup race here at Jerez at the beginning of May.”
