Rory Skinner is backed by the Racing Steps Foundation – a private, not-for-profit fund that provides and finances competition and performance development programmes for young British racing drivers and motorcycle racers.
The backing is provided for those with the talent and determination needed to climb to the top of the international motorsports ladder but who have neither the funds nor the mentoring and management needed to get there. The Foundation, set up in 2007, aims to fast-track them to the point where they can turn professional.
Development programmes are tailored to each individual and, in addition to race circuit activities, include comprehensive off track fitness and media training, advice on diet and mind coaching.
The RSF motorcycle programme, managed by Peter Ball, specifically focuses on developing young riders towards the MotoGP World Championship. Using Moto3 machines intensive circuit training takes place through the RSF’s partner Team KRP in the RFME Spanish Championship and FIM CEV Repsol Junior World Championship.

In parallel with its own driver / rider development programme, the Foundation also provides funds to help other young British drivers via a substantial support package for the Academy run by the Motor Sports Association, the FIA’s approved governing body for motorsport in Britain.
The man who founded and underpins the RSF programme is Graham Sharp, a successful businessman and benefactor.
Sharp is supported by the Foundation’s ambassador, the multiple ex-world motorcycle and Formula 1 world champion John Surtees and Derek Walters, chief executive of WorldSport Management the company which manages the RSF’s programme.
Via his Helsington Foundation, Graham Sharp also makes a substantial commitment to the Elite Engineering Programme which promotes engineering as a rewarding career choice for talented young British people through a range of initiatives in schools and higher education.
